Buddhist Center Lisbon
Due to COVID 19 (Coronavirus) outbreak and government recommendation to cancel public gatherings, we decided to cancel our public meditation sessions until further notice.
The Lisbon Diamond Way Buddhist Center was founded in 2004 in Sintra and has been in Lisbon since 2011. In July 2012 we got a new meditation space in a centrally located area, up hill from the downtown and easily accessible by tram, bus or taxi - see contacts.
We follow the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and are one of 650 centres worldwide, founded by Lama Ole Nydahl. More about Diamond Way Buddhism here.
"Buddhism is how we live. It's not a faith system. It's a religion of experience. (...) If we live in a way that benefits everybody - that gives human growth on all levels -, then this is a Buddhist life, it is an example of how Buddhism can be used. By giving you get rich. It's always like that. You cannot do anything better for yourself than giving freedom and happiness to others. There's no way to bring more good." Lama Ole Nydahl

Past Public Event:
Two sessions of teachings and meditations with Diamond Way teacher Javier Artacho in our DWBC in Lisbon
About the teacher Javier Artacho:
Javier lived in different countries and studied and practiced different oriental disciplines (Yoga; Wing-tsun; MTC – chinese traditional medicine; MBSR – mindfulness-based stress reduction). However, when he met Diamond Way Buddhism, he had the feeling of “returning back home” and he was sure that it was his inner path. Javier is very active supporting the activity of Diamond Way in Spain, particularly in Seville where he has founded the center with other friends in 2003. Lama Ole asked him to start teaching in 2013.
Javier took refuge with Lama Ole in 1994 and was an Erasmus student in Germany. He is an economist and Master in Human Resources Management and works as an economic/financial and Human Resources Management consultant in a multinational company. He shares his life and experiences with a radiant lady and two wonderful children.
